This file contains the papers of George W. Gore Jr. documenting speeches delivered during his presidency at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, dating from 1951 to 1969. The materials consist primarily of formal addresses and remarks presented at FAMU convocations, faculty and staff meetings, Founders Day observances, interscholastic press workshops, university inaugurations, State of the University addresses, and student-focused events. Included are speeches directed to faculty and staff, student organizations, and graduating classes, such as Gore’s “Chat to Graduating Classes” series and open letters addressed to graduating cohorts in 1962 and 1963.
