      Custodial history

This collection was donated to the Meek-Eaton Black Archives by Mr. Chester L. Davis, Jr. of Quincy, Florida on June 13, 2017. His objective was to preserve and share information about his father, Chester L. Davis, Sr., and other pioneering Montford Point Marines. In November 2011, members of this elite military group were recognized nationally and awarded (many posthumously) the U.S. Congressional Gold medal under the administration of President Barack Obama. Davis, Jr. accepted the medal; on behalf of his deceased father.
