Box 22 contains materials from the Rosewood Massacre Collection dating from 1994–1995 and is arranged by subject and record type, as well as alphabetically by claimant surname. The folders primarily consist of survivor documentation, genealogical materials, administrative records, and individual claim files related to the Rosewood Claims process.
This box includes folders such as Survival Information; Survivor Charts; Survivor Affidavits (including individuals such as Lucille Wimbush, Minnie/George Davis, and Estella Dailey); Reports to the Florida Legislature (December 23, 1994); Photographs; Family Genealogies (including Robinson, Goins, Edwards, Bradley, and Carrier families); and individual claimant files such as Robinson, Freddie L.; Robinson, Elise; Robinson Jr., Elijah; Robinson, Ed; Robinson, Corey; Robinson, Anita L.; Richardson, Juanita; President, Julie Ann; Porter, Richard Pickney; Pruett, Herriet; Phillips, Linda H.; and Porter, Cynthia, among others.
Records found within these folders include, but are not limited to, Rosewood survivor affidavits; handwritten notes; fax cover sheets and correspondence (including communication with Frank Beisler and Gregory Durden); driver’s license listings; marriage and Social Security records; genealogical charts and family trees; summaries of survivor interviews; non-survivor acknowledgements; legislative reports; photographs; transmittal forms; legal notices; property affidavits; claims information forms; and Rosewood Claims Bill checklists and notes.
Collectively, these materials document both the administrative and evidentiary aspects of the Rosewood Claims process, with a strong emphasis on survivor identification, genealogical verification, and the compilation of supporting documentation used to establish eligibility for compensation.
