Box 26 - Rosewood Massacre

Box 26 contains materials from the Rosewood Massacre Collection dating from 1994–1995 and is arranged alphabetically by claimant surname. The folders primarily document individual claims submitted by survivors and descendants as part of the Rosewood Claims Bill process.

This box includes files for individuals such as Wright, Bernadette; Wright, Samuel; Woods, Debra D.; Woody, Devin D.; Woody, Lisa L. Woods; Woolfork, Inas; Wooten, Rose; Young, Patsy Dean; Wright, Phyllis; Young, Joyce; Johnson, Marie Yearty; Wright, Jackie; Wright, Ava; Wingate, Terecina A.; Wingate, Kyle Jerell; and Wingate, Neidra Michelle, among others.

Records within these folders include correspondence between claimants and state officials or legal representatives such as Robert A. Butterworth, Gregory Durden, and Frank M. Beisler; Rosewood Claims Bill checklists; claims information forms; property affidavits; envelopes; handwritten notes; family trees; fax transmittals; non-survivor acknowledgements; and supporting documentation related to eligibility and compensation claims.

Collectively, these materials reflect the administrative and legal processes surrounding compensation claims, while also preserving personal and genealogical information that contributes to the broader historical record of Rosewood survivors and their families.
